There is some controversy over the safety of Marcellus Shale drilling in southwest Pennsylvania, pristine and poor. Many of these questions have been addressed head on by the Marcellus Drilling industry, particularly, water contamination by hydraulic fracturing, a 60 year old technology, used successfully in Texas.
