In my opinion, Representative Mark Kirk, a commissioned Naval Officer serving in US House of Representatives and candidate for US Senate from Illinois, has a sophisticated, realistic and nuanced view of the Middle East and its challenges and sees clearly the threat of Nuclear Weapons in the hands of religious fanatics.

AP: House lets states get rid of Iran-linked funds
“Several international firms continue to subsidize Iran’s nuclear ambitions by investing billions of dollars in the regime’s energy sector,” said Rep. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., a co-sponsor. “This legislation gives a strong ‘go signal’ to state and local leaders around America to get out of Iran.”

The bill, sponsored by Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank and Illinois Republican Mark Kirk, authorizes state and local governments to divest from firms with investments of $20 million or more in Iran’s oil and gas sectors, relieving some of the legal barriers currently in place.
JTA: Iran sanctions legislation passes House
The Iran Sanctions Enabling Act, sponsored by Reps. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), passed by a vote of 414-6 on Wednesday. “While some states like Illinois have taken steps to divest from Iran, many states and local communities need some encouragement,” said Kirk.
