Republicans Roll in Pennsylvania
December 8th, 2009 | by BGuzzardi |From the Toomey Campaign:
What a week! With the help of Team Toomey and many people like you across the state, Judge Joan Orie Melvin and 5 other Republican statewide judicial candidates were elected to the Pennsylvania courts on Tuesday. One other race is in a recount, so there still exists the possibility of going 7 for 7.
In Allegheny County, the GOP elected six new mayors and lost no seats up for reelection. In Westmoreland County a Republican was elected as a county row officer for the first time in 50 years. And it was very encouraging to see Republicans performing well in uncommon territory even when they were not victorious.
In Harrisburg the Republican mayoral candidate received 45 percent of the vote in a city where the Democrats hold a voter registration advantage of 72% to 5%. The Republican was also outspent $35,000 to $6,500. In Lancaster, the Democrat incumbent mayor won by a mere 314 votes in a city where the Democrats have a 13,000 voter registration advantage.
We are 361 days from electing Pat Toomey as the next senator from Pennsylvania and it’s critical that we do all we can each day to help get Pat elected.
People from across the state ask us all the time what he or she can do today to make a difference.
There are several things that you can do right now.
Please go to our website and sign our latest petition. We’ll deliver the signed petition to Rep. Sestak and Sen. Specter urging them to vote “NO” on the catastrophic health care bill that is poised to hit both House and Senate floors in the coming days/weeks.
You can also send the petition to friends and family members and ask them to sign it as well.
Thank you for all the help and hard work you have given to our campaign already. I am confident that we can rely on your continued support throughout 2010.
