The Future and Importance of a Vibrant Philadelphia GOP

From Kevin Kelly of the Loyal Opposition:

Friends,

The Loyal Opposition Center Right Coalition  supports former City Controller candidate and Republican State Committee Senior Advisor Al Schmidt.  As you may have read in the news over the past few months and weeks, the Philadelphia Republican Party is undergoing a remarkable struggle to determine its future course and relevance.  As it now stands, the Philly GOP has failed to win any citywide election in over 21 years.  Of the 3368 potential committeeman positions, less than 1/3 are filled.  If you live outside the Philadelphia limits, don’t make the mistake of believing this ongoing failure has no consequence for you.  Fact is, the collapse of an effective city organization and message virtually ensures Republican losses at the Federal and statewide levels.  Presidential electoral victories become increasingly difficult given a blue Pennsylvania which is an ever increasing certainty, and a direct result of a 400-500 thousand vote deficit coming out of Philly each election.  In short, this situation must be remedied.  Even a moderately competitive Philadelphia GOP is a local, state, and national game changer.  The Democrats and progressives know it — You should too.

With Philadelphia garnering the dubious distinction of having:

  • the highest per capita murder rate
  • the highest tax burden on its citizens
  • lost population at an astounding pace
  • a diminishing tax base and business environment
  • fostered schools with a abysmal track record for our children
  • terrible administration of even the most basic city services
  • a mounting and unsustainable pension crisis
  • a failing criminal justice and court system
  • year over year budget shortfalls of hundreds of millions of dollars

there is no excuse for the current lack of a direct and effective campaign, articulated by the GOP leadership, which lays these mounting failures directly at the feet of those responsible – The Democrat Machine which has governed Philadelphia exclusively for over 60 years.

Al Schmidt will outline how this situation has come to pass, and how we rise from the ashes to restore the GOP and the City of Philadelphia.  The current Republican City Committee leadership has been contacted and is invited to attend and participate in the open discussion.  All comments and discussions are off the record.  Hope to see you there, and remember.

You are right about the wealthier people and businesses leaving Philly. The poor people that always vote for the Dems will stay. The hard working people will leave to save their income and the poor will stay to collect their entitlements. Philly and othe cities in Pa will be like ghost towns before long but the Dems don’t care. The more people on welfare, the more votes for the politicians that helped put them there. Crime will increase and jobs will decrease and the media will blame the Republicans for not caring about the “disinfranchised” victim groups that the Dems created. We are fast becoming a third world country like Cuba.
